We've all been there, going to Walmart grabbing a multipack of the generic snowman cards. This holiday season, I decided to help entrepreneurs do something a little different by creating holiday cards that actually showcases what their business is all about. Cards like that can feel much more personal to clients. Similarly, choosing gifts for loved ones from our local small businesses can feel more personal than a generic gift! And as a bonus you are helping support Miramichi-ers to live out their dreams! So here are some of my favourite gift ideas!
Skip the bath and body works this year. The Sweet Soaperie has something for anyone on your list! The charcoal facial bar is perfect for the teens in your life struggling with acne and the bath bombs can help both mom and the kids enjoy their bath a little more! You can find Tessa every Friday at the Newcastle Farmer's market or you can find her products at The Urban Nest.
For Someone Away
Tidal Treasures handcrafts jewelry with beach glass found on the shores of the Miramichi. These make perfect gifts for people living away, easy to mail and they can always have a little piece of home with them!
For the Yogi
There are so many great gift options in the boutique at The Yoga Block. For the yogi in your life I would suggest a "Nama-stay" in bed mug or splurging on a B-Mat for them! Another great gift idea here is essential oils, for example, peppermint oil can be great for the people you know who suffer headaches! And, as always, a gift certificate to use toward a membership would almost always be appreciated!
For the Host(ess)
Looking for a gift to bring to a holiday party (or for a friend who loves wine)? Support local this season with wines from the Richibuctou River Winery! You can purchase them at NB Liquor or directly from the winery! Other great local hostess gifts: Cake a Chance Cupcakes or Beausoleil Oysters!
For Your Love
If it's been a bit too long since you and your significant other had a romantic getaway, look no further than Storeytown Cottages. You will have your choice of curling up by the fire with a good book, relaxing in the hot tub with a glass of wine or partaking in outdoor adventures like snow-shoeing! They are even pet friendly so you can bring your four legged friend!
For the New Home Owner
Is it your friends' first Christmas in a new home? Maybe they recently redecorated or got a new couch? These Miramichi pillows from The Urban Nest are a lovely addition to any home!
For the Fitness Fan
The athlete in your life will love the cool clothing from Vision Apparel, perfect for hitting the gym in! You can pick yours up at River City Fitness (which has lots of great gift ideas for the fitness fanatics in your life!)
Who wouldn't love a day of getting pampered? Treat them to a spa day at Blush Beauty Bar! Take it from me, Melissa is an eyebrow goddess! You can also pick up a special spa line up of the Sweet Soaperie products here!
For the Outdoorsman
Know someone who loves to hit the trails? Support their sled habit (and your local snowmobile club) by buying their trail pass for them! If that's out of the price range, Wilson's is right off of the trails, you could treat them to a night's stay or even to a gift certificate to warm up at their restaurant!
For the Christmas Fanatic
We all know that one person whose house has stockings hung by the chimney with care the morning of November 12. Living Out Loud Gifts and Decor in Doaktown and Blackville has so many beautiful Christmas ornaments to choose from!
For Tired Bones
Tiffany Matchett, a local massage therapist will save you from heading out into the cold this winter with her in home massage therapy! This makes a great gift certificate for anyone you know suffering from arthritis, stress or joint pain, even someone who spends a few too many hours working at their computer!
